Black Butte Ranch

Black Butte Ranch is one of the original Central Oregon Vacation Communities. Nestled along the Cascade Mountain foothills just off of highway 20 about 15 minutes North of Sisters Oregon, this golf course community is extremely popular with people living in the Portland area and Willamette Valley. Black Butte offers both permanent and seasonal residential living as well as timeshare ownership and vacation rental opportunities.

The Resort has 2 separate world class golf courses that most find as beautiful as they do challenging. The courses are very mature with dense stands of pine and fir along the fairways. Numerous swimming pools and tennis courts offer alternative leisure activities and a new fitness and recreation center is planned to open in 2007. The Ranch has its own horse stable with well cared for animals and a variety of riding opportunities for the equestrian minded person. Asphalt bicycle paths crisscross the entire resort and are an exhilarating way to get around.

Most of the lots here have been built out over the last 30 years, but there are a few that come up for sale on occasion. The homes here range in size from around 1500 sq ft cottages to 4000 sq ft luxury homes. Condominiums are also available. Prices for sole ownership range from $600,000-1,900,000. Restaurants and a few shops add to the appeal of this spacious resort.

This is a very private community and the locked gate at the front entrance is manned most of the time. As a result the Ranch has a distinct feeling of relaxation and quiet. Its popularity with the larger population density of Portland does elevate the price of purchase and make obtaining a rental sometimes difficult, but very worthwhile.
