Starting at your doorstep with 61 Paramedics employed by the Bend fire Department you can expect quality care compared to most regions of the country. The Physician population is also large with numerous choices for primary care and a deep pool of specialty and subspecialty experts. Advanced services including cardiothoracic, neurosurgical, orthopedic, general surgery, and oncology are just a few of these specialties that are staffed by fellowship trained surgeons and physicians. The number of specialists continues to grow to meet the demand and as a result the number of multi-specialty groups and outpatient surgery centers continues to increase as well. For the patient, this means more choices and overall better care.
St. Charles Medical Center is the cornerstone of the medical community in Bend offering two campuses, one in Bend and one in Redmond. St. Charles serves a 32,000-square-mile area and more than 230,000 people. There are over 240 physicians representing over 40 specialties and subspecialties on staff. A new heart center and birthing unit were just completed and the hospital also offers rehabilitation services, cancer treatment and support facilities, and sophisticated imaging technologies.
Volunteers In Medicine is a nonprofit organization that offers basic health care to those who can’t afford it. This is also true of the Bend Community Clinic.
There really is no question that health care in Bend, Oregon is not one of the things that has suffered during the recent growth of Central Oregon.
