Mill Quarter Design District Block Party

Over the past couple of years, the Mill Quarter area has evolved into a creative & inspiring place to be in Bend. To really show the Bend Community just what is going on in this area, Mill Quarter businesses will come together to host its first annual 'Mill Quarter Design District Block Party' on July 14, 2009 from 4pm to 8pm.

Twenty-three businesses in the 'Mill Quarter Design District'--MQDD-- have come together with a plan to help rejuvenate a community in the best way imaginable--hosting free food, drinks, music, entertainment & give-aways! This event focuses on the revitalization of an area that just years ago was inhabited by run-down buildings and vacant land.

Graham Hausler of Atlas Smart Homes has been a key planner in this event and plans on having The Warren Ziegler Jazz Trio band while serving libation & food from Joolz, downtown--all while launching his new location in the MQDD. Along with R&H Construction celebrating their 10 year anniversary at Tuesday's event with BICA Gallery artwork, many other MQDD businesses will branch out and have a little fun at the event. Badminton and horseshoes will be happening at The Racquet Shoppe, putt-putt at Sunset Mortgage and strawberry shortcake and lemonade at Community First Bank just to name a few of the activities that will be taking place.

The Mill Quarter Design District businesses that are partaking in this upcoming event are: Accelerated Fitness, Alpine Internet, Area Rug Connection, Atlas Smart Homes, Audette Media, Bend Electric Vehicles, Central Oregon Crossfit, Circa Interiors, Community First Bank, Furnish, Gossamer-The Knitting Place, Haven Home Style, HD Architecture, InClimb, INTERIORS by Decorating Den, Kaleidoscope, R&H Construction, Strictly Organic Coffee Co., Sunset Mortgage, The Racquet Shoppe, United Tile, Valentine Ventures and 1859/Deschutes Media. Elise Franklin and Bend Radio Group have helped to coordinate the effort, and the media components which have added great creativity and inspiration to the event (along with a sangria marketing campaign!).
