The United Way of Deschutes County is seeking project proposals for the 12th annual Days of Caring, to be held May 16 & 17.
Days of Caring, the signature event of the United Way of Deschutes County, is a county-wide effort matching local businesses with non-profit agencies for a day of community service.
Days of Caring provides an opportunity for non-profits to select a project that needs helping hands, which in turn provides a great chance for community volunteers to learn more about the agencies and their programs. Past projects have included landscaping, graffiti removal, playground installation, dog washing and indoor-outdoor painting. Projects can be scheduled during three different time options-Friday morning, Friday afternoon or Saturday morning.
"We would like to schedule up to 60 projects in Deschutes County this year," commented Terianne Petzold, Director of Campaign and Marketing for the United Way. "And we plan to involve more than 500 volunteers from local businesses. This is a great way to have a hands-on experience while sharing a talent."
SELCO Community Credit Union will be the title sponsor for this year's event. "We are very proud to support Days of Caring-a project that connects employees, volunteers, agencies and the people they serve," stated Mike Stanley, of SELCO Community Credit Union.
Non-profit entities interested in submitting a project proposal or seeking more information should contact Terianne at the United Way office: (541) 389-6507. Or via e-mail: doc@deschtuesunitedway.org
