Modern Housing on Newport Avenue
Newport Avenue is quickly becoming one of Bend's more upscale business and residential corridors. The shops and restaurants on Newport are many of the most popular in Bend. Newport is the primary access route for Central Oregon Community College (COCC) and the Oregon State University Cascades Campus. Newport Avenue turns into Shevlin Road and provides direct access to Shevlin Park and mountain recreation. This is one of Bend's older neighborhoods but many changes are occuring that are reshaping the area. Homes of many types are being built on and near Newport Avenue. There are new craftsman homes on Newport and 14th, a group of ultra-modern homes across the street from Newport Avenue, and mixed use retail and condos in early stages of construction.
